Public Access Inspection Program

Sorry that I have been slow to give you an update on the Public Access Inspection Program on Gladstone. First off, thanks to all of you that contributed. We collected $1320 from nine lake owners and a generous $250 donation from the Little Lake Hubert Association. By getting our inspection program going before July 1st we qualified for state funding which is now available. The money from the State will cover 175 inspection hours which should cover us through Labor Day Weekend. Of the $1320 we collected, $950 was spent on paying the inspectors before the State money became available. The access is being inspected on Friday nights, all day Saturday and Sunday mornings. Crow Wing County says the inspections are going well and I agree. Some people don’t think the inspections will make a difference but I truly think they will. When I stopped to introduce myself to the inspector last week there were five trailers in the parking lot and I was told that had been a lot of activity on the lake that day. I also think it is beneficial that it is now known that our lake access is inspected. It would help us immensely if we could get more email addresses to add to our list so that we can better spread the word. Currently we only have addresses for 20 properties when I think we have about 85 total properties on the lake. Please talk to your friends and neighbors and forward their email addresses to me.
